This week Sanderson Government & Defence were awarded the Silver Armed Forces Covenant Award in the Employers Recognition Scheme Award across the Southwest!
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same.
The award (which comes in bronze, silver, and gold) is handed out to employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community in alignment with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Here is what Piers Stacey, who previously worked in The Royal Marines and is now an integral part of the Sanderson Government & Defence team had to say on what it meant to receive the Silver Award…
“We are delighted to receive the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award as it recognises our company’s initiatives for employing veterans, supporting individuals transitioning out of the armed forces into a new career and providing flexibility for Reservists.
“Sanderson Government and Defence recognises the contribution the members of the Armed Forces make to the nation through their service, and we are proud to take our status on the Employer Recognition Scheme to the next level. We will continue to pledge our support of the Armed Forces Community, support the employment of veterans and our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces (including the establishment of Reservist HR procedures) and our local Bristol community, where possible.
“We believe that everyone has a role to play in ensuring that our Armed Forces community is not disadvantaged by service, and we are delighted to be an employer who has been recognised for setting an example as meaningful advocates for those protecting our nation.”
What is the Silver Award?
The Silver Award recognises those employers who actively demonstrate support made in their Armed Forces Covenant and employ at least one member of the Armed Forces Community, be that a Reservist, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer, Service Leaver, or military spouse.
Employers must be nominated for a Silver Award by a third party via the Employer Recognition Scheme website. Silver Award winners will be recognised at regional events.
We caught up with Nick Walrond, Managing Director of Sanderson Government & Defence, to ask what it meant to recieve the Silver Award...
"To recieve the Silver Armed Forces Covenant Award is another step forward for us as a key talent solutions provider to UK Secure Government - so much rich talent comes out of our armed forces, and a key part of tackling the ongoing skills challenges as UK Plc digitises. Fantastic news - well done to the Sanderson G&D team!"
