Hemel Hempstead – 5 days on site
£750 a day Inside IR35
Requires Active UKSV DV Clearance with sole UK nationality

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a long-term programme, you will become part of a highly secure team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting core infrastructure services that underpin vital defence operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a DV-cleared infrastructure professional to contribute to nationally significant projects within a secure and demanding environment. The role is fully onsite in Hemel Hempstead, with potential flexibility to work compressed hours across four days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver infrastructure support and engineering activities across secure Defence environments.
  • Maintain and improve virtualised and physical server platforms.
  • Support the ongoing management of enterprise Windows environments and core infrastructure services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within important systems.
  • Work alongside technical teams and stakeholders to implement infrastructure improvements and enhancements.
  • Ensure services remain secure, resilient, and compliant with Defence and Government standards.
  • Contribute to project delivery, system upgrades, and technology refresh activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

Candidates should demonstrate strong experience across several of the following areas:

  • VMware administration and support.
  • Hyper-V environments.
  • Windows Server technologies.
  • Active Directory administration and management.
  • Enterprise infrastructure support within secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience working within complex IT estates.

Desirable Skills

Previous experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Linux and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • McAfee security products.
  • Experience supporting Defence, Government, or National Security customers.

Security Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the programme, applicants must hold active UKSV DV Clearance and be a sole British national. Unfortunately, candidates without current DV clearance cannot be considered for this position.
