SC Cleared User Researcher

£380 per day | Inside IR35 | 6 Months | Active SC Clearance Essential | Hybrid – 2 Days per Week in Telford with Occasional Travel to Stratford and London

We’re seeking an experienced SC Cleared User Researcher to join a major government data and analytics programme focused on developing advanced investigative and analytical capabilities. You’ll play a key role in understanding user needs, shaping service design decisions, and ensuring products deliver genuine value to operational users.

Working within a multidisciplinary agile environment, you’ll support the Discovery and Alpha phases of a high-profile programme, helping teams design services that enable users to identify complex patterns, relationships and risks across large-scale datasets.

The Role

As a User Researcher, you will plan, design and conduct research activities that provide deep insight into user behaviours, needs and pain points. Your findings will directly influence product, service, content and interaction design decisions.

A key focus of the role will be reviewing, validating and building upon existing user research, ensuring valuable insights generated to date are leveraged effectively as the programme progresses. You’ll help develop a clear evidence base, identify knowledge gaps, and drive further research activities to support product strategy and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver user research activities across Discovery and Alpha phases
• Create and maintain research plans and roadmaps
• Conduct interviews, workshops, usability testing and other research activities
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative research data
• Synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations
• Work closely with product, design, delivery and technical teams to define research objectives and hypotheses
• Support research operations including participant recruitment, tooling and governance activities
• Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels
• Help embed user-centred design practices within agile delivery teams
• Champion evidence-based decision making and continuous improvement
• Build on existing research assets and ensure continuity of understanding across the programme

Essential Skills & Experience

• Active SC Clearance (essential)
• Proven experience working as a User Researcher within agile digital delivery environments
• Strong experience planning and conducting research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods
• Experience developing research roadmaps and managing concurrent research activities
• Ability to analyse findings and translate them into clear, actionable insights
• Experience facilitating usability testing and user interviews
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Experience demonstrating the value of user research and influencing decision-making
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable working with distributed and remote teams

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting data-driven products, analytics platforms or decision-support services
• Previous experience within government, regulated or large enterprise environments
• Understanding of investigative, operational or analytical user workflows
