Lead Software Developer
£525/day Inside IR35 | Remote | Active SC Clearance Required
Contract until 31st March 2027 + likely extension
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Software Developer to join a high-profile programme delivering scalable, cloud-based solutions within a secure environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys driving technical direction while remaining actively involved in design and development.
Working within an agile delivery team, you’ll play a key role in building and enhancing modern applications, APIs, and cloud-native services, whilst mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of robust, scalable software solutions
- Drive technical decision-making and provide guidance to development teams
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
- Build and support cloud-native applications hosted in AWS and Azure
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, and stakeholders across the delivery lifecycle
- Champion code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD best practices
- Support deployment, containerisation, and platform optimisation activities
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Node.js
- API development using REST and OpenAPI
- Web application development using HAPI
- Database expertise across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
- Unit testing with Jest and Lab
- Source control using Git
- Cloud platform experience in AWS and/or Azure
- Containerisation technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS
- CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions
- Experience using Jira and Azure DevOps for work management and delivery tracking
