Lead Data Engineer – Oracle

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Data Engineer to join a high-profile programme delivering critical data capabilities within a secure and complex environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, optimising and maintaining scalable data solutions, ensuring the availability, integrity and performance of enterprise data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Oracle-based data solutions and data pipelines.
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes to support business intelligence and analytics requirements.
• Develop and maintain Oracle databases, schemes, stored procedures, functions and packages.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security and compliance across all data assets.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement database tuning and optimisation strategies.
• Collaborate with architects, developers and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Support cloud and hybrid data platforms where required.
• Produce technical documentation and contribute to best practice standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience working with Oracle Database technologies.
• Proven experience in ETL development, data integration and data migration projects.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale data warehouses and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data modelling, database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle GoldenGate or similar data integration tools.
• Understanding of data governance, security and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working within Defence, Government or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Experience with Python, Shell Scripting or other automation tools.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.
