Infrastructure Engineer
Hybrid Working 2 days per week onsite
Initial 6-month contract
Outside of IR35

Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to help deliver key initiatives across enterprise infrastructure, resilience, security and platform modernisation.

This role will suit an engineer who is comfortable translating high-level technical requirements into practical, supportable solutions. You will lead infrastructure projects from design through to implementation, testing, documentation and operational handover, helping to improve resilience, reduce technical debt and strengthen platform security across a complex enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with architecture, security and operational standards.
  • Lead technical delivery across backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Drive infrastructure risk remediation and vulnerability management activities.
  • Support platform modernisation initiatives across on-premise and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Improve observability, monitoring and operational supportability of core services.
  • Produce detailed engineering documentation and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security and operational teams to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.

Experience required

  • Strong infrastructure engineering experience within large enterprise environments.
  • Experience delivering enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, testing and operational resilience.
  • Experience of infrastructure vulnerability management and remediation.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft infrastructure technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability and infrastructure performance management tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Highly desirable

  • Experience supporting infrastructure transformation or modernisation programmes.
  • Exposure to highly regulated environments where security, governance and resilience are critical.
  • Knowledge of enterprise storage, networking and cyber resilience principles.
