Cyber Security Architect

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to London (typically 1-2 days per month)
Contract Length: 6 month rolling contract (Outside IR35)
Security Clearance: Active Enhanced SC Clearance Required

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to join a specialist consultancy supporting critical programmes and secure digital transformation initiatives.

Operating at the intersection of cyber security, enterprise architecture, risk management, and technology strategy, you will play a key role in ensuring security is embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will provide expert security architecture guidance across complex programmes, support the development of secure enterprise architectures, and help organisations strengthen their security posture against evolving cyber threats.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced architect with a strong background in secure-by-design principles, enterprise security architecture, governance, and the delivery of secure solutions within highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture Leadership

• Provide senior security architecture expertise across complex programmes and technology initiatives.
• Define and maintain security architecture principles, standards, patterns, and reference models.
• Ensure alignment between security architecture, business objectives, and wider technology strategies.
• Act as the lead authority on secure architecture across transformation and change programmes.

Secure Solution Design & Assurance

• Design, review, and assure secure architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments.
• Ensure security requirements are incorporated throughout project and programme lifecycles.
• Develop secure architectural patterns that support scalable and resilient technology delivery.
• Review existing architectures and identify opportunities for security improvement.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Integrate security considerations into architecture governance processes.
• Support design reviews, technical assurance activities, and security decision-making.
• Work with delivery teams, architects, and risk owners to ensure controls are effective and proportionate.
• Translate security and compliance requirements into practical architectural solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience designing and assuring secure architectures within complex, high-risk environments.
• Strong expertise across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise security architecture.
• Experience securing mission-critical systems, sensitive data environments, and large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of security architecture frameworks, principles, and governance practices.
• Experience translating security and compliance requirements into architectural deliverables.
• Ability to assess cyber threats and apply appropriate security controls.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
• Experience supporting architecture governance and security assurance processes.
• Ability to balance security, risk, operational requirements, and business outcomes.

Experience working with frameworks and standards such as:

• NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF)
• ISO 27001
• Government Security Standards
• Enterprise Architecture Frameworks
• Risk Management Frameworks
• Secure System Architecture and Design Principles

Qualifications & Certifications

The following would be highly desirable:

• TOGAF Certification
• ITIL Foundation
• Degree in a technology-related discipline or equivalent industry experience
• Additional cyber security or architecture certifications
