Content Designer – GDS – BPSS

We’re supporting a major public sector digital programme and are seeking an experienced Content Designer to help create clear, accessible and user-centred content for critical digital services.

Working within a multidisciplinary agile team, you’ll play a key role in shaping content that helps users complete tasks confidently and efficiently, ensuring services meet both user needs and Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Content Designer on complex digital transformation programmes
• Strong GDS experience, including working to GDS service standards and assessment requirements
• Expertise in creating clear, concise and accessible content for digital services
• Experience conducting content audits, content reviews and content strategy activities
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence decision-making through evidence-based content design
• Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
• BPSS clearance eligible (or currently held)

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within the NHS, Health, or wider Healthcare sector
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
• Experience designing content for high-volume citizen-facing services
• Familiarity with user research findings and translating insights into effective content solutions

Responsibilities

• Design, write and iterate user-centred content across digital services
• Ensure content meets user needs, accessibility requirements and GDS standards
• Collaborate closely with User Researchers, Service Designers, Product Managers and Developers
• Use evidence, analytics and user research findings to inform content decisions
• Contribute to content strategies, governance and continuous improvement activities
• Support service assessments and ensure content aligns with wider service objectives

• 12-month contract
• £477 per day
• Inside IR35
• Hybrid working – London
• BPSS clearance required
• Immediate/short notice availability preferred
