Business Analyst

Location: Swansea (40% onsite – approximately 2 days per week)
Contract: 17 August 2026 – 31 December 2026
IR35: Expected to be Inside IR35
Rate: Competitive
Security Clearance: Existing SC clearance advantageous but not essential

The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Business Analyst to join a high-profile government digital transformation programme based in Swansea.

Working within Agile engineering teams, you’ll play a key role in understanding business processes, eliciting and documenting requirements, producing high-quality user stories, and supporting the delivery of modern digital services. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a large-scale transformation programme, with the potential to support a variety of projects beyond the initial assignment.

This role is ideal for a Business Analyst who enjoys working closely with engineers, SMEs and stakeholders to drive delivery, remove blockers and ensure solutions meet user and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business and user requirements.
• Facilitate workshops and engage with business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Produce high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Create process maps and support business process improvement activities.
• Work collaboratively with engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives and 3 Amigos sessions.
• Support backlog refinement and prioritisation.
• Proactively follow up actions, resolve issues and help drive delivery outcomes.
• Build strong relationships across technical and business teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a hands-on Business Analyst within Agile delivery environments.
• Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills.
• Experience producing user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Process mapping and business analysis techniques.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience participating in Agile ceremonies, including 3 Amigos.
• Comfortable working independently as the Business Analyst within a delivery squad.
• A proactive approach with the ability to challenge, investigate and drive actions through to completion.

Technical Environment

Experience with the following is beneficial:

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience delivering within government or public sector organisations.
• Experience supporting Agile software engineering teams.
• Knowledge of large-scale digital transformation programmes.

Working Environment

You’ll be embedded within a collaborative Agile engineering team, typically working alongside 3-7 software engineers, product stakeholders and subject matter experts. As the Business Analyst within your squad, you’ll play a pivotal role in bridging business needs and technical delivery.
