Employee Relations Consultant – Contract

Rate: Up to £500 per day (Umbrella)
Location: London (Hybrid)

We’re supporting a financial services organisation in hiring an experienced Employee Relations Consultant to provide expert ER support across multiple locations.

The Role

You’ll manage a varied ER caseload, acting as a trusted advisor to managers and HR partners on complex employee relations issues while ensuring compliance with employment law and internal policies.

Engagement via Umbrella Company Only; all taxes & NI deducted at source.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑end management of ER cases including conduct, performance, grievance and sickness absence
  • Advising and coaching managers on investigations and hearings
  • Partnering with HRBPs, Legal and Occupational Health on complex cases
  • Supporting business change initiatives, including TUPE
  • Providing ER input into organisational change and HR projects
  • Collaborating with wider ER teams

About You

  • Proven experience in a fast‑paced Employee Relations role
  • Strong knowledge of employment law
  • Confident managing complex ER casework independently
  • Experience working within a global, matrix organisation
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

This is an excellent day‑rate contract opportunity for an ER specialist looking to work in a high‑impact, collaborative environment.

    We’re working in partnership with a fast-growing business to hire a Fractional People Director.

    We are looking for someone to operate at board level and develop and deliver a People and Performance Strategy as they have identified the need to build out a new well-rounded People Strategy looking at elements like Employee Benefits, Core Values, Leadership Development, Performance Management and Recruitment Processes.

    We’re looking for an experienced People Leader who wants to get stuck into a transformational project and take ownership for building a People Strategy.

    Role overview

    • Own and deliver the multi‑year People & Performance strategy aligned to business goals.
    • Lead organisation design, ensuring clear structure, roles, and accountability.
    • Set and embed high‑performance standards, including objective‑setting, feedback, and consequence management.
    • Build leadership capability, oversee succession planning, and ensure strong talent pipelines.
    • Shape reward, benefits, and incentive frameworks that drive performance and retention
    • Strengthen culture, engagement, and employee experience across all sites and functions
    • Oversee people governance, data, analytics, and risk management to support commercial decisions.
    • Ensure robust policies, compliance, and consistent people practices across the organisation.
    • Lead and develop the People & Performance team, setting priorities and building capability.

    We’re looking for experience:

    • Acting as the People Lead at board level in a similar sized business
    • In a similar organisation (industrial, construction, manufacturing)
    • Working in transformational HR Projects where you’re improving process and people strategy
    • Comfortable with Fractional People Director roles

    Couple of days a week on-site at the start is essential for this one – they have offices in the South-West and along the M4 corridor.

    The role is initially an 18-month Fixed Term Contract – There may be opportunity for the role to continue for longer

      We are partnering with a well-known financial services business to hire a Reward Advisor to support the design, development and implementation of a compensation and benefits offering.

      After partnering with them for years, we can say the business have a strong people focussed culture and you’d be joining a high quality, supportive, experienced Human Resources function.

      You’ll join a reward team of 3 and play a key role in delivering and shaping compensation and reward programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Reward professional to drive impactful initiatives and support critical reward cycles.

      This role would focus on the compensation element of Reward.

      Key Focus:

      • Lead and support compensation and reward initiatives
      • Manage and deliver key reward cycles (pay review, bonus, benefits)
      • Conduct benchmarking and reward analysis
      • Support bonus scheme design and payment processing
      • Provide expert advice on compensation and benefits to the wider business

      What we’re looking for:

      • Strong experience in compensation and reward
      • Proven background in bonus schemes, benchmarking, and reward analysis
      • Data analysis skills (Excel and PowerBI would be great but not essential)
      • Ability to work at pace and manage multiple deadlines
      • Experience in financial services
