Technical Business Analyst

Location: Hybrid working, London
Security Clearance: SC required (DV desirable but not essential)
Duration: 6 Months
Daily rate: £580 – £600 per day, inside IR35

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to support a high-profile government programme. This role requires strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to translate complex data sets into structured business use cases that inform programme delivery and strategic decision-making.

You will play a key role in validating large, complex datasets, working closely with distributed teams, and supporting the development of a robust programme Business Case.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and validate complex global datasets relating to user numbers and devices by location, using advanced Microsoft Excel techniques.

  • Conduct data quality assurance, identifying inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies, and resolving them through stakeholder engagement.

  • Collaborate with data owners and local teams to verify and refine dataset accuracy.

  • Translate validated data into clearly defined technical and operational use cases aligned to programme scope.

  • Work with stakeholders to document, review, and validate detailed use cases and associated requirements.

  • Support the Programme Director in drafting and developing the full Business Case, including technical assumptions, benefits articulation, and evidence-based justification.

  • Provide structured documentation suitable for governance and assurance processes.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Active SC security clearance (DV advantageous but not essential).

  • Demonstrable experience as a Technical Business Analyst within government or public sector environments.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex data analysis and reconciliation.

  • Strong experience in requirements gathering, use case development, and stakeholder validation.

  • Ability to interpret and translate technical data into business-focused documentation.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.


Desirable Experience

  • Experience contributing to formal government Business Cases.

  • Experience working on large-scale digital, infrastructure, or transformation programmes.

  • Familiarity with governance and assurance processes in complex environments.

        Workday Financial Business Analyst – Up to £725 p/d

        Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Business Analyst to support a key finance transformation programme within an Asset Management and Pensions environment.

        The successful Business Analyst will play a central role in the implementation of Workday (financial), working closely with the Finance and Business Readiness teams. Responsibilities will include mapping finance processes into Workday, producing SOPs and training materials, and supporting the roll out of training across the business.

        As they are joining the programme mid-delivery, the successful candidate will be expected to quickly understand existing processes and operate effectively.

        Up to £725 p/d

        6 month initial contract (with scope for extensions)

        Hybrid working – 2 days a week onsite in the client’s office in London

        Experience needed:

        • Proven experience as a Business Analyst delivering Workday Financials implementations (must have)

        • Strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes

        • Experience creating process maps, SOPs and training materials

        • Hands-on involvement in business readiness and training rollout
