Senior Data Engineer – Azure Legacy Migrations
£600 per day | Inside IR35
Fully Remote (UK-based)

We’re partnering with a leading organisation to onboard a Senior Data Engineer to support a major Azure-based legacy migration programme. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone experienced in modernising and migrating data platforms at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of legacy data migrations into Azure
- Build and optimise data pipelines using Azure-native services (e.g., ADF, Synapse, Databricks)
- Transform and modernise legacy datasets into scalable cloud architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, analysts, and stakeholders
- Ensure performance, reliability, and governance across data solutions
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers where required
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Data Engineer in Azure environments
- Proven track record delivering legacy-to-cloud data migration projects
- Expertise with:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Databricks (preferred)
- SQL / T-SQL
- Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data warehousing
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and best practices
- Comfortable working in an Agile delivery environment
Desirable
- Experience working within the NHS or wider healthcare sector
- Exposure to large-scale public sector programmes
- Familiarity with data compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, healthcare data regulations)
Additional Requirements
- Must be UK-based and fully eligible to work
- Must be BPSS eligible
- Able to start at short notice
