Enterprise Architect / Lead Technical Architect

Rate – £750 Inside IR35 (Via umbrella)

Duration – 6 months

Location – Birmingham / Solihull (Once a week / 20% on site)

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join a large-scale transformation programme. This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with business architects, business analysts, solution architects, delivery teams and senior stakeholders to shape and deliver critical technology outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

You should bring:

  • Extensive experience as a lead architect on large transformation programmes
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technology solutions within time, cost and quality targets
  • Strong knowledge of the Financial Services
  • Hands-on experience with Life & Pensions Policy Administration Systems and related front, middle and back-office applications
  • Experience with platform migrations and/or upgrades
  • Broad technical background with awareness of evolving technology trends and their business impact
  • Industry experience across multiple technology domains, ideally including:
    • Cloud infrastructure
    • MS Azure integration
    • 3rd party technology outsourcing
    • Supplier management
  • Desirable: expertise in TOGAF, Zachman or similar architecture frameworks

The Person

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Hands-on, pragmatic and outcome-focused
  • Shape the programme vision
  • Strong in stakeholder management across all business levels
  • Experienced in working with and managing external/outsourced technology providers
  • Able to balance commercial and technical considerations under pressure
  • A natural leader who can guide, steer and challenge solution architects and external teams

Typical Deliverables & Accountabilities

  • High-level solution design documentation
  • Integration wiring diagrams and technical catalogues
  • Transition states, architectural roadmaps, and sequencing
  • Oversight and leadership of 3rd party solution architects
  • Design authority participation (programme and enterprise level)
  • Mapping business capability to technical solutions
  • Guidance and governance for new system implementations
  • Identification of strategic systems vs. those for retirement
