Data Scientist – Python

£700-£750 pd via Umbrella

Initially for 6 months with long term potential

Global Retail business is looking for a Data Scientist to join their advanced data science team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to real-world problems, driving innovation and value across a data-rich business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and deploy data science solutions to support business initiatives, with a focus on machine learning and time series forecasting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into production systems using modern cloud platforms.
• Communicate insights and model outputs to stakeholders in a clear, actionable way.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience working as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer in a commercial setting.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with hands-on experience using libraries such as Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Jupyter, and Matplotlib.
• Proficient in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI for developing and deploying ML services is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of time series analysis and forecasting techniques.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles – data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and data modelling.
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms including but not limited to Logistic Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost.
• Familiarity with modern deep learning approaches such as BERT, LSTM, and concepts in NLP and Transfer Learning.
