Salary: £75,000- £82,000 + Bonus, 30 + days holiday, double matched pension scheme & PHC
Employment Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Bournemouth – Hybrid working (once a month onsite)

A leading Financial Services business are seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Implementation Manager to join a newly formed Data team. Reporting to the Head of Data, this pivotal role will drive the implementation of our data governance strategy, ensuring our data is accurate, secure, consistent, and compliant with regulatory standards.
You will work across business and technical teams to embed best practices in data ownership, quality, metadata management, and stewardship. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone passionate about data and its role in driving business value and regulatory compliance.
Data Governance Implementation Manager Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Collaborate with business units to define data domains, ownership models, and critical data elements.
- Lead data governance councils and working groups.
- Define and monitor data quality rules and manage exceptions.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239, DORA).
- Oversee data lineage, cataloging, and metadata management using tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or Alation.
- Support governance integration within platforms like Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and BI tools.
- Promote data literacy and deliver training across the organisation.
- Provide audit and regulatory evidence, supporting internal/external audits and exams.
- Report on data governance KPIs and maturity models to senior leadership.
Data Governance Implementation Manager Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or data management within financial services.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and modern data stacks.
- Experience with data governance tools – Microsoft Purview preferred.
- Solid understanding of data architecture, modelling, and integration technologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as DCAM, DAMA-DMBOK, or CDMC.
- Certifications such as CDMP, Collibra Ranger, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals.
This is an initial 12-month FTC with the potential option for permanent. The business offers a hybrid working with a minimum of once a month onsite.
