Sanderson Government and Defence are supporting a commercial supplier to government in their search for a Cloud Java Developer to work out of either Manchester or Gloucestershire. This client, aside from offering a very strong package, offer an excellent development programme, with a real willingness to support both financially and otherwise.
Tech wise, we have requirement for both Java and Python backend languages, and cloud experience would also be very helpful indeed. AWS is by far the most prevalent, but we will look at individuals with transferable experience in this area.
Role responsibilities:
- Interacting with project roles as required, to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context, and organisational strategic direction.
- Advising our customer on the latest technologies and methodologies, designing and implementing innovative approaches to their problems using automation.
- Understanding security policies and implementing solutions to satisfy security requirements.
- Designing and implementing solutions which have high availability and are scalable.

Desirable Skills and Technologies:
- Experience and knowledge of AWS / Azure and Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Python or Java, React, Go
- Familiarity with deploying applications to cloud architecture and technologies in AWS environments.
- Experience with web application services
- Experience of Test Driven or Behaviour Driven development.
- API development and integration
- Experience with monitoring systems
- Working knowledge of digital delivery processes and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of Atlassian Toolset.
- Knowledge of JavaScript frontend frameworks.
- Understanding of front-end technologies
- Understanding the nature of asynchronous programming, its quirks and workarounds.
- Understanding of database schemas and query languages.
- Knowledge of source control technologies
- Awareness of security identity, access management and authentication using products
This role will require you to be willing and eligible to undergo a high level of UK security clearance
