Data Scientist

£650-£750 pd overall assignment rate to umbrella

Fully Remote, initially for 6 months

Leading business is looking to recruit a Data Scientist to work focus on large AI transformation program- where machine learning meets pricing strategy. The business is looking to leverage AI to make smarter pricing decisions, this means predicting the optimal discount for a product at a specific store and time – balancing customer demand with business impact.

The experienced Data Scientist must have experience of deep dive analysis and A/B testing.

What you’ll Do

  • Design and implement A/B tests to measure the impact of pricing strategies and promotional events.
  • Perform deep-dive analyses to understand customer behaviour, segmentation, and how pricing affects outcomes.
  • Use SQL and Python to wrangle large datasets, perform statistical analysis, and build models.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and commercial teams to turn insights into action.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of ML models for price optimization.

About You

  • You have solid experience in data science or analytics, preferably in retail, pricing, or e-commerce.
  • You have experience with A/B testing or other experimental design methods.
  • You’re fluent in SQL and comfortable writing clean, efficient Python code.
  • You’re curious, analytical, and enjoy solving complex problems with data.

      A FTSE 100 retail client are on the look for a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer to join their data science function to drive cutting-edge ML technology across the business.

      Machine Learning Engineer, key skills:

      • Significant experience working as a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer
      • Solid knowledge of SQL and Python’s ecosystem for data analysis (Jupyter, Pandas, Scikit Learn, Matplotlib).
      • GCP, VertexAI experience is desirable (developing GCP machine learning services)
      • Timeseries forecasting
      • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, data modelling and software architecture

        Key Requirements:

        • Proven experience as a DBA or Database Engineer working with PostgreSQL

        • Comfortable with Postgres in AWS-hosted environments

        • Solid understanding of performance tuning, database security, backup and recovery strategies

        • Experience with automation/scripting for DB maintenance (e.g., using Python, Bash, or Terraform is a plus)
