QA Automation Architect
Salary: £65,000 + Bonus
Location: Primarily Remote
Type: Permanent
The Role
We’re looking for a QA Automation Architect to lead and shape our automation capability across multiple projects and clients. You’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, guiding QA engineers, defining best practices, and building scalable automation frameworks.
This is a key role focused on driving innovation in test automation, improving quality standards, and delivering robust, modern engineering solutions across a CI/CD landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of QA Automation Engineers
- Act as the escalation point for automation and QA-related matters
- Define and maintain QA best practices, standards, and documentation
- Drive continuous learning through training, certifications, and industry engagement
Automation Delivery
- Own and deliver automation strategies across projects
- Design and maintain reusable frameworks, templates, and test artefacts
- Support delivery teams with hands-on automation where required
- Promote the value of automation through business cases and client engagement
Frameworks & Engineering
- Design and build scalable automation frameworks across UI, API, and non-functional testing
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines across cloud environments
- Implement solutions covering performance, accessibility, and security testing
- Develop tools or applications (web, API, or CLI) to solve engineering challenges
Innovation & R&D
- Stay current with emerging tools, trends, and best practices
- Continuously improve automation capabilities and frameworks
- Build and maintain proof-of-concept and demo environments
What We’re Looking For
Leadership Experience
- Proven experience leading QA/Automation teams
- Experience managing distributed/onshore and offshore teams
- Strong stakeholder management and project delivery skills
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience with automation in Node.js (ideally TypeScript)
- Solid background in CI/CD environments and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
- Experience building automation frameworks across UI, API, and performance testing
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman, Rest Assured, JMeter, Axe, BrowserStack (or similar)
- Knowledge of non-functional testing (performance, accessibility, security)
