A leading Financial Services organisation is transforming its BI and analytics landscape, building a centralised enterprise data marketplace as the single source of truth for reporting, analytics, and regulatory insight.
They require a Principal Data Modeler to lead the design and governance of the business semantic layer underpinning this platform. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on defining enterprise modelling standards, driving consistency across squads, and ensuring data models reflect true business concepts – not just technically correct structures.
You will act as the central authority for data modelling across the programme, guiding less mature teams and elevating overall data maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement enterprise-wide modelling standards across conceptual, logical, dimensional, semantic, and physical layers.
- Design and deliver hands-on data models supporting the enterprise data marketplace.
- Establish and enforce modelling governance across multiple delivery squads.
- Partner with engineering teams and business domain owners to align models with business and regulatory needs.
- Resolve modelling conflicts and drive best-practice adoption.
- Contribute to Snowflake data model design, including semantic modelling capabilities where appropriate.
- Ensure scalable, reusable, and business-aligned data assets within a Financial Services environment.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Principal or Lead Data Modeler in large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Financial Services experience (banking, capital markets, insurance, asset management, or payments) is essential.
- Experience establishing and enforcing enterprise modelling standards.
- Strong hands-on data modelling capability (not purely strategic).
- Strong Snowflake knowledge (semantic modelling desirable).
- Ability to create and govern a canonical enterprise data model.
Experience guiding teams toward modelling best practice and improved data maturity
