Music Content Operations Lead
Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office)
Day Rate: £450 – £550 a day via umbrella
Contract Duration: 12 months (with potential for extension)
Start Date: Can only consider those with 4 weeks or less – Early July Start Likely
About the Role
Our client, a global well-known brand, are seeking an experienced Music Content Operations Lead for a dynamic and hands-on long-term contract opportunity. You’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering best-in-class music content operations, including distribution, rights management, and artist support.
This is a brilliant opportunity to work closely with emerging music talent and cross-functional teams across technical, marketing, and business areas.
You will have the flexibility of a start up with the financial backing of a well-known global brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day music operations including artist onboarding, release setup, and go-live processes.
- Own timelines, documentation, and workflows
- Manage content metadata and asset delivery to meet distribution and licensing requirements.
- Provide support while maintaining operational accuracy and compliance.
- Handle rights management and UGC claims on social and streaming platforms.
- Collaborate with legal, tax, and policy teams to launch new features and processes.
- Serve as a key point of contact with distribution partners and internal stakeholders.
- Drive testing and QA of new features across internal platforms.
- Continually seek to improve operations and build scalable, efficient systems.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in music operations at a record label, distributor, or music-tech business. Indie label or international business.
- Knowledge of African music and genres and experience working with artists in this space.
- Familiarity with wider genres like Hip-Hop, Pop, and R&B would be advantageous.
- Strong technical understanding of digital music distribution, metadata standards, and workflow systems.
- Experience working across DSP platforms and CMS systems.
- Familiarity with platform metadata specs.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Experience working with emerging artists would be highly desirable
