Enterprise AI Architect – Agentic AI & LLMs

Contract | £850 per day
UK‑based | Remote / Hybrid (secure programmes)
Must have 5 years’ unbroken UK residency

Lead the adoption of agentic AI at enterprise scale

We’re seeking a highly experienced Enterprise AI Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership for the adoption of agentic AI and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities across complex, enterprise‑scale delivery environments.

Operating at senior level and reporting into senior engineering leadership, this role will shape how advanced AI patterns-such as autonomous agents, multi‑agent workflows, and enterprise LLM integrations-are safely, securely, and pragmatically embedded across the full SDLC.

This is a hands‑on strategic role for someone who can operate comfortably across architecture, governance, delivery, and senior stakeholder engagement in highly regulated environments.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Architecture Leadership

  • Define the enterprise‑wide architecture and governance frameworks for agentic AI and LLM adoption
  • Set architectural direction for autonomous agents, multi‑agent orchestration, and LLM‑enabled systems across programmes
  • Act as the primary architectural authority advising senior client stakeholders on the technical, organisational, and SDLC implications of AI adoption

Enterprise Governance & Assurance

  • Establish enterprise guardrails for LLM usage, including transparency, security, prompt governance, auditability, and alignment to responsible AI policies
  • Lead architecture review boards and governance forums to ensure AI solutions meet standards for quality, compliance, and risk management
  • Oversee architectural artefacts describing how agentic and LLM components interact across multiple teams, platforms, and business processes

Delivery Enablement & Capability Building

  • Mentor senior architects (Band 7 / Band 8 equivalent), building deep programme capability in architecting LLM and agentic solutions within structured SDLC environments
  • Influence programme‑wide planning by identifying process, tooling, and organisational changes required to support AI adoption at scale

External Collaboration

  • Work with external AI and LLM providers to shape long‑term collaboration models, covering hosting strategies, agent frameworks, safety testing, model versioning, and operational support

Required experience

  • Extensive experience operating as a senior / lead / enterprise architect
  • Proven experience designing and governing LLM‑based and agentic AI solutions in complex environments
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC impacts of AI adoption (process, tooling, assurance, operating models)
  • Experience advising and influencing senior client and programme stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in regulated or high‑assurance environments

Nice to have

  • Experience shaping responsible AI or AI governance frameworks
  • Background in large‑scale digital transformation or platform programmes
  • Experience mentoring senior architects or leading architectural communities of practice

Security & eligibility

  • Must have 5 years’ continuous, unbroken UK residency
  • Eligibility for security vetting is required due to the nature of the programmes

Why this role?

  • Operate at the forefront of agentic AI adoption at enterprise scale
  • Influence how AI is embedded into real delivery-not experimentation in isolation
  • Shape long‑term architectural direction for high‑impact, secure programmes
  • Competitive day rate of £850
