Rate- £500 – £550 Inside IR35 total to umbrella
Location- Bristol twice a week on site
Duration- 6 months
The Role:
We’re working with a global organisation that is seeking an Application Security Consultant to support a long-standing, business-critical payments product within their Global portfolio.
The focus of this role is a legacy IHCM application. The application is built on a Microsoft technology stack, including SQL Server and holds sensitive employee base data, making internal access control and data security a key priority.
This is a non-hands on development role, ideal for someone with strong technical understanding who can bridge the gap between product, security and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Product Leads and stakeholders to understand current application capabilities and limitations
- Review and assess internal application security, with a strong focus on user access and data access management
- Advise on improvements to user profiles, access rights and permission models
- Help define and design grouped access, restricted profiles and role-based access across different customer and user categories
- Provide clear, practical security recommendations that balance usability, compliance and risk
- Support the business in evolving legacy security processes without disrupting core product functionality
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as an Application Security Consultant, Product Security Specialist or similar
- Strong understanding of application-level security, particularly user access management rather than external cyber threats
- Experience working with legacy systems and complex, long-established products
- Solid technical knowledge of Microsoft-based applications (e.g. SQL Server, enterprise apps)
- Comfortable influencing without coding – able to translate technical concepts into business-focused recommendations
- Background in financial services, payments or regulated environments is highly desirable
