Leading Financial Services business is looking to recruit a Data Analyst to support a major data transition initiative, including the decommissioning of SAS and the move toward a future-state data environment. This role is highly analytical and focuses on understanding, comparing, and translating data between current and future states rather than building reports or dashboards.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in financial services (ideally insurance) and will act as a bridge between business, data, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and compare current-state data with future-state data models and outputs
- Translate existing SAS logic and processes into SQL, ensuring functional equivalence
- Perform data mapping between legacy and target systems
- Conduct gap analysis to identify differences, risks, and data quality issues between current and future states
- Validate that future-state data meets business, regulatory, and operational requirements
- Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and architects to clarify data definitions and assumptions
- Document data transformations, mappings, and analytical findings clearly and concisely
- Support testing and validation activities during system migration and decommissioning phases
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Data Analyst in complex data environments
- Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to translate logic from other platforms (e.g., SAS)
- Experience supporting or working through SAS decommissioning or legacy system migration
- Proven experience in data mapping and gap analysis
- Solid understanding of financial services data, ideally within insurance
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to document and communicate complex data concepts clearly
