The Tech Meetup hosts talks and networking events for the South Coast developer

We’re excited to announce that Sanderson are sponsoring Southampton-based tech Meetup PowerShell Southampton. This Meetup brings together both professionals and hobbyists to talk about the programming tool within a wide range of topics. PowerShell is a scripting language built on .NET that is used not only on Microsoft Windows but on other third party platforms and applications.

Our sponsorship comes in support of developers in the local region and the growing status of Southampton as a national tech hub.

Jonathan Medd, co-founder of the group, has said:

'Community events are typically run by enthusiasts with their own day jobs, who run events often in their own time and sometimes needing to use their own finance. Having a sponsor makes a massive difference to the success of a group and their events. Sanderson's involvement with the PowerShell Southampton group has enabled me to concentrate on session content and group promotion. I'm excited about how the partnership will develop in the future.'

Sanderson previously sponsored the November Meetup of the event which included two separate talks. The first was The PowerShell Standards Agency – Write Better Code for Everybody and explored best practice with PowerShell and the second, Power BI and PowerShell – A Match Made in Heaven, detailed the function of PowerShell within the new data management and visualisation tool Power BI.

Lucy Garrett, one of our Southampton consultants, is equally optimistic about the partnership:

‘We’re very happy to announce our sponsorship of the PowerShell Southampton Meetup. As Sanderson Southampton are rapidly growing, we wanted to engage with the local tech community to support in any way we could, as well as for us to gain valuable insight into key topics within the tech sector. We’re looking forward to working with Jonathan in the future!’

The first Meetup of 2019 was an interactive GitHub Session led by Chris Murray, exploring the next steps in GitHub, including pull requests and forking.
