On the 20th - 21st June, the SSE Engineering Centre completed their sponsored St Cuthbert’s Way walk – 101km along the Scottish Borders in aid of Beat Autism. Sanderson was one of the 10 main sponsors of the event. The team completed the walk in 27 hours, walking through the night, from Melrose to Lindisfarne and raised a total of just over £6500 – the grand total is still being calculated.
Sanderson last sponsored the SSE Engineering Centre for its 100km challenge walking the Yorkshire Dales in 2016. The centre raised over £12,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice upon completion of the walk.
This year’s cause, Beat Autism, is a West Yorkshire based charity that provides support to the parents and carers of autistic children; they offer two weekly, free support groups as well as speech and language therapy and access to an occupational therapist. The total will go towards growing the charity; purchasing new equipment for that and allowing them to continue to employ healthcare professionals and expand their support sessions.
Congratulations on the team for such an incredible feat!
