Our parent company, RSG, are delighted to announce that they are headline sponsors of the Bristol Museum & Gallery’s Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing exhibition. The exhibition is running from 1st February to 6th May as part of #Leonardo500, a national celebration of one of history’s creative geniuses.

Mike Beesley, CEO of RSG said:

“With the drawings on display being said to be some of the most technically advanced in the history of art, RSG are very excited to be sponsoring Leonardo da Vinci: A Life in Drawing at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.

It’s a great opportunity for us to support local art institutions especially when such an iconic exhibition comes to Bristol. Additionally, it helps to cement Bristol’s reputation as a national cultural hub.

We welcome the partnership and are very much looking forward to our own Private Viewing in February to share this exciting opportunity with our valued network.”

The event marks the 500th anniversary of da Vinci’s death and features 12 of his drawings that have been selected by The Royal Collection Trust to show the extraordinary scope of the artist’s interests, from painting and sculpture to engineering, zoology, botany and anatomy. They also demonstrate his use of different media – pen and ink, red and black chalks, watercolour and metal point.

Bristol is one of 12 venues across the country hosting this exhibition, each displaying 12 different drawings from the Royal Collection’s archive across Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Southampton and Sunderland. All the drawings will be brought together in a major exhibition taking place at The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace in May 2019, the largest exhibition of da Vinci’s work in over 65 years.
