Business Development Director - Data & AI


My client is in the process of establishing a new Data and AI function within its wider consultancy business. The function will provide strategic data and AI project based services and solutions to end customers across a diverse industry base. There is a need for an experienced and capable Business Development Executive to join the function and begin to establish a consistent and credible sales pipeline of opportunities feeding back into the SME's within the wider business.

You will be the first BD Executive specifically aligned to this function so it is imperative that you have substantial capability and depth of knowledge around all things data (data strategy, data governance, data risk, ethical data) and AI. You will need to be able to work with clients as the initial focal point of the consultancy, properly qualifying and assessing Data and AI sales opportunities, before building out bespoke service based propositions for new clients. Across the existing customer base of the wider business, this depth of subject matter knowledge will allow you to raise the Data and AI agenda with warm prospects. You will need to be comfortable operating in an autonomous role in the medium term, be driven, entrepreneurial and a genuine team player.

The successful Business Development Director/Executive must be able to demonstrate experience of the following:

  • A proven track record of sales across data and AI project based services and solutions and a confidence with data allowing you to generate and qualify new sales opportunities autonomously
  • A proven track record of selling IT services and solutions, ideally project based.
  • Experience of different technology offerings relevant within this space - Cloud, AI and Hyper-Automation.
  • A proven track record of working in a start up environment or as a sole contributor for a business launching a new function. Comfortable working as the primary new business developer for a organisation.
  • A broad industry background across public sector, FS, Energy and Utilities and Pharmaceuticals
  • Able to demonstrate a modern and IT based approach to sales strategy, incorporating CRM systems and project based software to build sales pipelines.
  • Passionate about implementing and ensuring good sales processes, best practice and sales philosophy.
  • Genuinely passionate about Data and AI and the benefits it can bring to organisations
