Senior / Reporting Actuary - Transition

Day Rate Contract - Inside IR35, Competitive rate

We have an exciting opportunity for an Actuary to join our financial services client (UK based) on an initial 6 -12 Month DRC working on a sub project within their IFRS17 Programme.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a large programme delivering fundamental changes to the way in which IFRS results are presented; gaining an understanding of the implications for the business. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the programme and provide SME support to one of the transition CSM calculation methods (retrospective or fair vale approach).


  • Calculating and reviewing CSM figures across a range of products with appropriate and agreed controls and provide technical assurance on transition workstream output
  • Planning out an iterative approach to move from indicative figures to final, audit-standard figures as IFRS17 adoption nears.
  • Exercising actuarial judgement to produce interim figures that are fit-for-purpose without undue effort
  • Preparing and presenting documents and papers used to secure approval from IFRS17 governance bodies and external auditors. (including extension of high-level methodology decisions)
  • Building & maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of the team
  • Demonstrating commercial understanding of key IFRS17 decisions being made and how these impact results, particularly relating to the advantages and disadvantages of the key transition methods
  • Confidently communicating results to senior management
  • Provide SME support on IFRS17 transition training to the business and programme

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

This role will require solid actuarial reporting experience as well as previous experience with transition calculations.

  • Extensive UK actuarial reporting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills & attention to detail
  • Financial reporting experience - SII, IFRS
  • Experience of building relationships, managing and influencing stakeholders across the business
  • Ability to collaborate with other programme team members and drive delivery to successful outcome
  • Resilience, creativity and flexibility given challenges of implementing a complex, unprecedented new reporting standard
