Java Developer

We are looking for an experience SC Cleared Java Developer to be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of IT software and applications ensuring the solutions delivered are reliable and effective and in line with company standards.

You will be working within a small team within the IT department to maintain existing software and applications with temporary/partial assignments to other teams to deliver project based solutions or services. You will be directly involved with the development and control of software and applications in support of business projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new software programs
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
  • Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues
  • Design and update software databases
  • Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization
  • Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary
  • Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
  • Working closely with colleagues, testers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
  • Supporting users on change control and system updates

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Technically strong in Java EE, Data Structures, Object Oriented Design, Swing, FX, ASP, XML
  • Strong in Web Services technologies (SOAP, HTML 5, Java script)
  • Experience with PDM and/or PLM SW and exposure to Electrical Cabling design would be beneficial
  • Ability to understand the electrical distribution system design and manufacturing flows/processes
  • Object oriented programming
  • Architecture for OO development in particular, designs for robustness, Inheritance and reuse of functionality.
  • Experience working from a legacy code base
  • Unit testing, where practicable, addition of unit tests to provide robustness.
  • Short cycle, rapid development (an Agile like approach but not following all Agile precepts)
  • Source code control in particular familiarity with Subversion

Desirable Skills:

  • Siemens / Mentor Capital API Data Model experience
  • Familiarity with CSS
